Landing or Takeoff at Night

In order for an aerodrome to be used at night, at a minimum it must have fixed (steady) white lights to mark the runway, and fixed red lights to mark unserviceable (hazardous) areas. However, this does not apply if the pilot-in-command deems it is safe AND a flight is operated for the purpose of:

  • A police operation that is conducted in the service of a police authority
  • Saving a human life
