A valid Category III medical is required in order to exercise the privileges of a private pilot license.
A Category III medical is:
Valid for 60 months for those under 40 years of age
Valid for 24 months for those 40 years of age or older
Valid until the first day of the month following the day on which the medical examination for the issuance or renewal of the certificate is conducted. For example, the Category III medical certificate of a 25 year old pilot, which was obtained on May 16, 2020, is valid until June 1, 2025
