Blowing Snow

If snow is fine and dry it can easily be lifted by the wind. Blowing snow is usually confined to the lower one to three hundred feet however, this depends on the strength of the wind and the stability of the air. During or after a fresh snowfall and with brisk winds the surface visibility can be reduced to less than half a mile.
